FORESTRY TECHNICIAN

Performs as a member of a fire crew assigned to suppress the full range of difficulty and complexity of fires. Moves dirt, chops brush, fells small trees, etc., to build fireline using hand tools such as axe, Pulaski, shovel and McLeod, and power saws, to control spreading wildland fire. Lays or directs hose in the use of water. Fells trees or snags using power saws. May be required to rappel. Sets backfires as directed. Cleans, reconditions, and stores specialized fire tools and equipment. Patrols areas of controlled fires to mop-up by searching out and extinguishing any remaining burning material. Operates specialized fire suppression equipment such as portable pumps or drip torch. Observes, records, and preserves evidence of cause of fires. May be assigned to other resource management activities such as fuels, recreation, timber, or reforestation when not performing fire suppression duties. You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered eligible for this position. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. (6) six months of general experience and (6) six months of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-03 level. General Experience is defined as:
Observed field work projects and recorded data. Worked with tools and equipment used in laboratories or at field sites. Other work experience, paid or unpaid, that demonstrates an ability to learn and perform the work of this position. Examples of unpaid experience include volunteer work, such as at a park, youth camp, scouting organization, hospital, community sports league, local fire department, etc. AND Specialized Experience is defined as:
Used hand tools or power equipment to create a fire line and/or remove debris. Inventoried and/or restocked engines or fire caches to maintain fire readiness. Served on a crew to suppress the full range of fires.-OR Successful completion of 2 years of study above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science. No more than 3 semester hours in mathematics is creditable -OR A combination of education and experience listed above. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
